May Book Haul

IMG_1818

I got quite a few books this month, a mixture of new and secondhand books, and ebooks.I also ordered two books just last week that hasn’t arrived yet so I’ll be adding them to my June Book Haul instead. Out of the 17 books I got this month (1 ebook, not pictured), I read 4 books and I’m in the middle of the 5th one. It’s a slow month for me, reading-wise, because I read A Court of Thorns and Roses and A Court of Mist and Fury and they were so good, they left me in a book hangover. No regrets though, because it’s now one of my top 5 favourite series. Okay so the books I bought in May are:

Hardcover:

  • The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman – I got this book second hand off a facebook buy and sell page. Neil Gaiman’s writing is beautiful, and I know when I saw this I had to get it.

Paperback:

  • The Inheritance Cycle series: Eragon, Eldest, Brisingr and Inheritance by Christopher Paolini – I have heard of this series before from a couple of people but it’s not massively talked about, it hasn’t been spoiled for me which is a rare thing this days so I am looking forward to reading this. All I know is that it involves dragons. I am 90% sure I will like this series since I have heard good things about it. I got this off  facebook buy and sell page, same seller as The Graveyard Book. It’s in new condition and it’s signed!
  • Uprooted by Naomi Novik – This is one of the very few high fantasy standalone I have read and I loved this one! It’s magical and just very alluring.
  • The Crown by Kiera Cass – This is the last book in The Selection Series and thank heavens for that. I didn’t enjoy this book as much as I enjoyed the original series, my review can be found here.
  • You by Caroline Kepnes – I’m getting into psychological thrillers lately, and I heard this was good so I picked it up. I’d probably read it in June.
  • The Trials of Apollo: The Hidden Oracle by Rick Riordan – This is the first book in Uncle Rick’s new series also set in the Percy Jackson World. Some of the old characters have made an appearance which made me feel fuzzy and warm inside.
  • A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness – I have heard soooo many good things about this book since last year and I finally picked it up in May and read it straightaway and I was blown away. I absolutely loved this book, and I can’t wait for the movie adaptation – I just hope it gives the book justice.
  • Keeping Faith, Mercy, My Sister’s Keeper, Second Glance and House Rules by Jodi Picoult – I got these for free from a Facebook book buy and sell page, she was just going to chuck it in the bin so she just gave it away instead. I’ve never actually read anything of Picoult’s but I have seen My Sister’s Keeper and I loved it so we’ll see.

Ebook:

  • A Court of Thorns and Roses + A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J Maas – I read both of these in 8 hours combined (ACOTAR took me 3 hours, while ACOMAF took me 5). I read one book in one sitting, the other in one sitting too – they’re that good! I already love The Throne of Glass series by Sarah J Maas and I didn’t think it was possible to love her work even more but I did – I love ACOTAR and ACOMAF more than I love TOG series. I can’t wait for the third one to come out next year, it’s going to be even more epic!

Thanks for reading! I’m posting my May Wrap Up and June TBR soon-ish.
